People who swear also tend to have this positive personality trait

Good news for gutter mouths!

A survey has revealed that people who swear also tend to be more honest.

In a study published in Social Psychology and Personality Science researchers discovered that people who use foul language also tend to tell it like it is.

The study asked 276 participants how much they swear, and how they felt about swearing. The participants then had to fill in a quiz which revealed how honest they considered themselves to be.

These results were compared across an analysis several thousand Facebook users, and compared to data from the general population.

Time and again it was found that the filthier the mouth, the more likely it speaks the truth.

It is suggested that since swearing is looked down upon, people who swear tend to worry less about what people think of them and therefore are more likely to be direct and honest.
