If you look up at the night sky tonight you might be in for a treat!
The aurora australis, also known as the southern lights, are expected to give us a show this evening!
Normally reserved for those living in Tasmania and southern New Zealand, the incredible phenomenon may be visible for those living in southern Victoria and South Australia.
Just like the northern lights, famous in Scandinavian countries for drawing millions of tourists every year, the southern lights are created when solar winds are drawn into our atmosphere by the magnetic pull of the north and south poles.
The reaction creates astonishing light shows across the sky, which happen during the day but can only be seen by the naked eye at night.
