Spiced Orange Liqueur

Serve it neat, on the rocks or with a splash of soda. This also makes a great gift idea.

Method

1.

Peel the skin from the oranges, making sure there is no white pith. Place into a large clean airtight container or jar. Add cinnamon stick, fresh ginger, vanilla bean pod and vodka. Seal and stand at room temperature for 1 week.

Combine white sugar and 2 1/2 cups water in a saucepan, stir over a low heat until sugar has dissolved. Remove and cool. Add the orange peel mixture to the sugar syrup and chill for 2 days.

Strain the liqueur, discarding the solids. Pour into a clean bottles and store in the freezer for up to 3 months. If gifting, place into bottle and insert new spices.
