Henri van Breda, 21, will stand trial in South Africa after the bodies of Teresa, Martin and Rudi van Breda were found inside their luxury home near Cape Town in the early hours of January 27, 2015.

All three suffered fatal axe wounds to the head, while  Henri’s sister, Marli, 18, had her jugular vein slashed but survived. The murder weapon, a 4.5 kilo axe, was found near the bodies.

When he called emergency services around four hours after the gruesome attack, he told them ‘a guy with an axe’ was responsible.

With more than 100 people set to give evidence, the trial will run for several weeks, according to 7 News.

Marli suffered amnesia after the attack, but is still expected to give evidence against her brother.
