A 21-year-old tourist has died after being attacked by three sharks while on holiday in the Bahamas.

Student Jordan Lindsey was with her family on a boat trip off the coast of Rose Island in the North Atlantic Ocean, when the incident happened on Wednesday (June 26 2019) at around 2pm.

In a Go Fund Me set up by her family to pay the cost of getting her body flown back to her home in California, they describe Jordan as a ‘beloved daughter, sister, girlfriend, and friend.’

‘Jordan had the most beautiful, gentle soul and she will be missed deeply,’ they added.

It’s believed Jordan was snorkelling off the island when her parents saw the sharks swimming towards her. Despite their screamed warnings, Jordan didn’t get away in time and three sharks attacked her.

Suffering devastating injuries, her arm was torn off and she suffered bites to her left arm, both legs and buttocks. Although she was rushed to hospital in Nassau, Jordan later died from her injuries.

‘We already miss her so much. She was so caring. She loved all animals. It’s ironic she would die getting attacked by a shark,’ said Jordan’s father Michael Lindsey in a statement to NBC

Jordan body will now go through an autopsy in Nassau before being flown to California where she’ll be laid to rest.

The last time a person was killed by a shark in Bahamas was in 2010.
