A 25-year-old psychic medium was killed in front of spectators in Chiang Mai, Thailand, when a traditional spirit dance went terribly wrong.
Theprit Palee has presumably performed this dance many times and includes a moment when a sword is pressed against the chest.
To prove Palee’s immortality, the blade is meant to break.
This time, however, it did not and the psychic stabbed himself causing a fatal injury.
‘This is a tradition that happens every year. The sword normally breaks but this time it went inside him,’ local resident Noom Udorn said.
‘The medium has been respected for many years. People love him. He is one of people’s favourites.’
Thai police later confirmed that Palee had died from his wounds in hospital.
