Man pleads guilty to causing death of girlfriend he adored in fatal jet-ski collision

A man charged with reckless driving causing death has handed himself over to Thai police hand-in-hand with his girlfriend’s family after her tragic death on Kata Beach.

Tommy Keating, 22, has taken responsibility for the accident that caused the death of his girlfriend Emily Collie, 20, on a Thai beach early this month.

He has pleaded guilty to ‘careless driving leading to death’

It will be several days before Mr Keating’s fate will be decided by the court. ABC News reports that under Thai law Keating could face as much as 10 years in jail.

Shortly after the accident, a devastated Mr Keating posted a heartbreaking tribute to Ms Collie.

In a statement accepted by the court detailing his acceptance of the charges, Tommy Keating expresses ‘heartfelt gratitude’ to his girlfriend’s family ‘for the love and support they have shown me while they are coping with the most devastating loss imaginable.’
