If you were scrolling through the Ikea catalogue you’d be forgiven for thinking that this stainless steel bowl was pretty innocent-looking.

Aptly named the ‘Blanda Blank’ it looks indeed like a bland, blank, stainless steel bowl that would be good for bowl-like things.

I mean, it’s just a bowl. Right?

One person who owns such a bowl has discovered that this particular kitchen item has a super power – it can set things on fire!

Swedish man, Richard Walter, apparently put some grapes into his shiny bowl and took it out into the bright sunlight for a snack.

When he turned and looked he was shocked to discover that his grapes were on fire!

‘I saw it was burning in the grape bowl. How is that possible, I thought. Then I saw there was one intense point where (the sun) hit the twigs, and that’s where it started,” Walter told Swedish paper, Aftonbladet.

To prove his point, Walter shared a video to Facebook showing him placing a piece of newspaper in the bowl, which begins smoking in a matter of seconds

In a statement Ikea told The Local that an investigation into the bowl found that the chances of something catching on fire is very low, and the design of the bowl would contain any flames were they to break out.

Turns out this plain old bowl isn’t so bland after all!
