Tasmania Police have arrested and charged two men for making and circulating fake $50 notes after spotting some dodgy details.

Police have revealed how they could tell the notes were fakes. First, they are all marked with the serial number HH13863456.
They’re also smaller than a legal $50 note.
Most telling of the rip-off bills, however, is the hand-drawn Southern Cross in the transparent cut out section which appear to have been drawn with a white-out pen.
A 22-year-old man and a 43-year-old man have been charged for possessing counterfeit currency and will appear before Launceston Magistrates Court.
