An Australian mother and her three sons who were reported missing from a Japanese resort have been found.
According to Japanese broadcaster, NHK, police launched a search after the family failed to return from a ski day on Monday.
The family also reached out to friends on Facebook asking for help, saying they had dug a cave in the snow to shelter from the cold.
The woman, who is said to be in her 50’s, and her adult sons were staying at the Nozawa Onsen ski resort, west of Tokyo, before disappearing.
But in a Facebook update, the resort has said the family have been found alive and well.
‘The missing family has just been found up the top of the mountain!’ the post said.
‘A big thank you to the hard working team at Ski Patrol and a strong message to everyone on the slopes at the moment to be very careful with more heavy snow again overnight.’
It’s believed temperatures dropped to minus 11 degrees overnight in the area.
