A paedophile who abused babies and was known as an ‘extremely high risk’ to children, has died in prison.
Jared Perry was in custody and serving a 17-year sentence in Bridgend, South Wales.
v According to Wales Online, the 32-year-old tried to take his own life and later died in hospital.
Ian Coles, the deputy director of HMP Parc, said, ‘On November 3 2019, Mr Perry passed away in hospital.
‘As with all deaths in custody, this will be investigated by the Prison and Probation Ombudsman.’
Perry abused infants under the age of six months old, as well as boys and girls.
He pleaded guilty to the sexual assaults.
Previously, he had handed himself into police and confessed his crimes throughout a spate of seven interviews.
The Metro reported that in Swansea Crown Court it was heard how Perry had been brought up in a strict religious environment and watched porn from an early age before becoming ‘addicted.’
Initially he watched adult pornography, but he then moved on to abuse images of young children.
In total, Perry admitted to 10 counts of indecent assault and sexual assault on a child under 13.
At the sentencing, a judge told him, ‘I believe without a doubt you present an extremely high risk of sexually assaulting children in the future.’
An inquest into Perry’s death will be carried out.
