A mum was left shell-shocked when her ‘dead’ son knocked at her front door, recently.

Russian woman Antonina Mikhailovna, 62, identified a dead body as her son, Konstantin, when he went missing on March 18.

But four months later, the woman answered her door in Kronstadt, Kotlin Island, to see Konstantin standing there.

The Metro reported that the 43-year-old told his flabbergasted mother he had decided to take time off and ‘think about the meaning of life.’

Konstantin had been missing for six days when his mother contacted police.

Police then rang Mrs Mikhailovna saying they believed they had found his body.

After incorrectly identifying the corpse as her son, Konstantin’s estranged wife and daughter organised a funeral for him.

Mrs Mikhailovna has apologised to police for misidentifying the body, stating she was ‘very upset’ at the time.

She explained, ‘He looked very familiar and so I confirmed to police that he was my son.’

Konstantin, who worked on a navel base, is now struggling to re-adapt to life after being officially declared dead.

When speaking to officers about his disappearance, he explained, ‘I was thinking about the meaning of life, and what I want to do with myself.’

Police are now investigating who the deceased man is who was cremated and buried.
