A woman who forced her children to eat dog faeces has avoided jail.
Mary Elizabeth Moore, 34, was charged with two counts of child neglect involving her kids aged just five and three.
The five-year-old child shared graphic details about her diet to police, including that her mother had forced her to eat dog faeces, reported The Tulsa World.
In the affidavit, the arresting officer noted this as the reason for the pinworms found in the child.
After being taken to the Intensive Care Unit, the children were found to be severely malnourished, with the older child weighing 11.8 kilograms and the three-year-old just eight kilos. The children were placed on a special diet and required nasal feeding tubes.
Appearing before the Delaware County District Court, Moore received a seven-year suspended sentenced and was told not to have any contact with her children unless it is within the guidelines of her guardianship case.
It’s understood that the Department of Human Services were aware that Moore had a history of neglecting her children.
The document states that the younger sibling was diagnosed with a failure to thrive as early as four months old and that both children were unable to develop properly as a result of not being provided enough calories.
