A mum who raised money for her son’s funeral has confessed to murdering him, police say.
According to The Metro, last week Victoria Jackson admitted to killing her 10-month-old son, Malachi Jackson, back in May.
The 24-year-old initially dialled 911 on May 24 in Clearwater, Florida, telling police her son was unresponsive. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Following the tragic news, Jackson created a GoFundMe page, writing, ‘I want to give my son the best memorial service I can. He died last Friday night.
‘I’ve never been so heart broken in my life. Please help me take care of my baby one last time.’
The page, which has now been taken down, raised a generous $4,000 from various donors.
According to an arrest report obtained by People, Jackson wasn’t considered a suspect at first, but she allegedly confided to a friend that she’d killed her boy.
The unnamed friend then told police, resulting in investigators carrying out a controlled phone call with Jackson.
It’s reported that Jackson then admitted to suffocating Malachi with a pillow while he slept.
Marah Gonzales went to school with Jackson and told ABC, ‘Tragedy is a time where you need to be the most compassionate and loving and kind and she totally just took advantage of that.
‘It was just kind of so manipulative to the point she was consistently reaching out and consistently like please donate to this and this, but with very very little details.’
