Meghan Markle has come under fire for leaving ‘patronising’ messages for sex workers written on bananas.

During a royal visit to Bristol charity One25, the Duchess of Sussex was helping pack food parcels containing fruit, blankets, condoms and water for sex workers.

While on-camera, Meghan decided to grab a Sharpie pen and write heartwarming affirmations on the bananas, such as ‘You are strong’ and ‘You are loved’.

But instead of being applauded for her kind gesture, television personality Piers Morgan publicly mocked Meghan for being ‘patronising’.

‘It’s one of the most patronising things I’ve ever seen anyone do,’ the Good Morning Britain host said on air.

‘It’s literally like here’s Meghan Markle, actress, marries handsome prince, lives in a palace – comes along, picks up a bunch of bananas and says “you’re strong” – it’s so patronising.’

Piers was not the only one to take aim at Meghan for her fruity idea.

A sex worker in Bristol – known only as Nikki – told The Sun the Duchess’ banana messages were ‘really stupid’.

‘People out here struggle to eat and sleep and she gifts us some words on a piece of fruit,’ she told the newspaper.

‘She has the means to help us more than that. It’s offensive, you know.’

Eagle-eyed viewers of the royal video also pointed out Prince Harry looked awkward and uncomfortable during banana-gate.

Not allowing her husband to help, Meghan instead told Harry: ‘I’m in charge of the banana messaging’.

Meghan said during the visit she had gotten the idea from an American woman who wrote messages on bananas for disadvantaged children.
