A man has been taken to hospital after he was injured in a suspected shark attack at Manly beach.
A man reported to be in his 40s or 50s was swimming with friends near Shelly beach this morning (July 2 2109) at around 6am when he felt something bite him. The man then scrambled onto nearby rocks and emergency services were called.
An off-duty nurse was able to administer first aid until paramedics arrived. After being loaded into an ambulance the man was taken to Royal North Shore hospital where he’s in a stable condition being treated for injuries to his torso and leg.
Speaking to 7NEWS, one of the swimmers in the man’s group said he heard a commotion.
‘There were runners yelling at us to get out because he’d been bitten by a shark, so we swam across and climbed out.
‘He’s got a gash on his stomach and his back and quite a deep laceration on his left leg.’
