When officers attended the scene in Brantley County, Georgia, it’s reported they ‘smelled a foul odour’ coming from Jones’ vehicle.

The 38-year-old man then said, ‘You may want to put me in handcuffs because there was a dead body (inside the vehicle)’, reported WKMG-TV.

According to, investigators believe Jones murdered his family and stored their bodies in their Florida home, before driving them to across to Georgia in a mini-van.

Michael Jones has currently been charged with second-degree murder in connection with his wife’s death. It’s expected more charges will be announced.

Marion County’s Sherriff, Billy Woods, said, ‘Unfortunately, true evil has poked its head up here in Marion County.

‘As a father, as a parent, it breaks my heart. As a sheriff, it angers me.’
