Robin and Jack Firestone drove into the Pont de l’Alma tunnel moments after the crash and claim they now ‘live in fear’ because of what they saw.

Speaking to The Express, the couple said they saw two ‘dark cars awkwardly parked’ near the scene of the crash on August 31, 1997.

‘We still live in fear today because of what we saw and what we were told,’ Robin, 63, told the publication.

I think the crash was a royal thing and other forces were involved.’

The next day, the couple reportedly went to the police station to give evidence of what they saw.

But what the police officer said next chills the couple to this very day.

‘Without hesitation he said, “They have enough witnesses. Don’t worry about it”,’ Robin claims.

While blame is usually put on the hoard of photographers who followed the car that day in 1997, charges against them were thrown out in 1999.

Judge Herve Stephan blamed the deaths of Diana and Dodi Fayed on the driver who was intoxicated at the time.
