Since she was a little girl, Katie Whiddon dreamed of becoming a mum.

But when she fell pregnant at 18, that dream was snatched away when her boyfriend convinced her to abort their son.

When the day of her anatomy scan arrived, Katie was filled with excitement. She had even picked out names in anticipation – Kaylin for a girl or Camden for a boy.

But when a doctor was called into the ultrasound, Katie knew something was seriously wrong.

That’s when she was told that her baby had no arms or legs.

Sharing her story on Love What Matters, Katie said that her boyfriend immediately tried to convince her to get an abortion.

‘It would be cruel to have a baby like that. He’s a monster!’ he reportedly said.

While Katie originally gave into his constant demands to keep her boyfriend from leaving, she couldn’t go through with the process and decided she was going to raise the baby on her own.

On October 2nd, 2013, little Camden made his grand entrance into the world.

Speaking about his birth, Katie said ‘It changed my heart, my soul, my reason for living and breathing, my entire existence. I knew I made the right decision.’

While Camden initially faced some complications with breathing on his own, Katie was able to hold him the following day.

‘He was so beautiful. Not a vegetable. Not a monster. Not deformed. Just my perfect boy,’ she wrote.

Though she worried about being a single mum so young, Katie was determined to give Camden the best life possible.

And less than three years after his birth, she met a new man who she describes as ‘incredible’

‘[He] loves us wholeheartedly, even though we aren’t some people’s pictures of perfect.’

Now aged five, Katie says Camden is a wild and spunky boy with enough perseverance and attitude to do anything he puts his mind to.

Camden is now a loving big brother to four other siblings that he takes care of and bosses around every single day.

The devoted mum rounded out the post with a touching tribute to her son.

‘Camden has changed my life in the best ways possible. He has shown me my strength through his. He has shown me that love can get you through any obstacle. He taught me that I have a voice, that is LOUD and HEARD and I can use it to help others.
