Many hardworking low and middle-income earning Australians will wake up $1080 richer today thanks to the government’s tax bonus.
The Scott Morrison government managed to pass the four cross bench votes required to make their tax cut package happen.
The government said it was a win for all ‘hardworking’ Australians but who will get the tax bonus?
Are you eligible for the $1080 bonus?
Around 4.5 million Aussie workers are set to receive the money, while more than 10 million people will receive some sort of tax offset.
Those earning up to $37,000 will receive up to $255.
Anyone earning between $37,000 and $47,999 could get anywhere between $255 up to $1080.
Those earning between $48,000 and $90,000 will be entitled to the full lump $1080 lump sum.
Workers earning between $90,001 and $126,000 could also save up to $1080 when they file their tax return.
The ATO says the tax back will be automatically applied to anyone who’s already lodged their tax return.
