A Florida man has been charged after allegedly shooting a seven-year-old boy after he mistook the toy gun he was playing with for a real one.
Anthony Knuth was drinking at his sister’s friend’s house over the weekend when the he became convinced the boy and his group of friends had a real gun.
It’s understood that the child’s mother left the group of children in a room with Knuth for around 10 minutes before she hears a loud noise and ran back inside.
That’s when she discovered her son had been shot in the knee and his friend’s had blamed Knuth for the injury.
Knuth, who was intoxicated at the time, claimed that he had gone to bed and had no memory of injuring the boy.
However, according to a report from Fox 35 Orlando, when police arrived, Knuth muttered that he was going to child for having shot the child.
He has been charged with neglect of a child with great bodily harm and using a firearm while under the influence.
