A 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed a father-of-two at a petrol station in Hobart.
Reid Ludwig, was returning a hire trailer to the station when he noticed two boys fighting. But when he went to intervene, one of the teens turned the knife on him.
The man was rushed to hospital after suffering stab wounds to his stomach just before 3pm yesterday.
He tragically died last night.
It’s understood that his young son was at the petrol station with him at the time of the altercation.
Friends and family have paid tribute to the dad-of-two on social media with some saying they were ‘shocked to the core’ upon hearing the news of his death.
‘Am so sorry for the family, his kids, his partner. These things should never happen in the world. It’s cruel. Taken too young. May you find peace above, one person wrote.
‘Deepest condolences and thoughts to your dad and mum and your young family especially your kids, the worst news I’ve heard in ages,’ wrote another.
Tasmania Police confirmed earlier today that a 16-year-old boy has been charged with murder in relation to the man’s death.
