20. Dumplin’ (2018)

Willowdean Dickson, played by Aussie actress Danielle Louise Macdonald, is the plus-sized teenage daughter of a former beauty queen, played by the one and only Jennifer Aniston. Nicknamed Dumplin’ by her mum, Willowdean decides to take on the glitzy pageant world. Based on the book by Julie Murphy with an epic soundtrack by Dolly Parton, Dumplin’ will leave you smiling.

19. Green Book (2019)

A working-class Italian-American bouncer (Viggo Mortensen) becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist, played by Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali, on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South. Inspired by a true friendship, and directed by Peter Farrelly.

A teenage girl’s love letters are exposed and wreak havoc on her life. Lana Condor is adorable as the lead, Lara Jean Covey, while Noah Centineo, playing Peter, is the perfect teen heart throb. Based on Jenny Han’s 2014 novel of the same name, it was directed by Susan Johnson.

17. Wine Country (2019)

In Amy Poehler’s feature directing debut, six longtime mates question their friendships and futures when they travel to Napa Valley, California, to celebrate a 50th birthday. This hilarious film has an all-star cast featuring Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Paula Pell, Emily Spivey, Cherry Jones, Maya Erskine, Jason Schwartzman and Tina Fey.

16. La La Land (2016)

Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) and Mia (Emma Stone) are drawn together by their common desire to do what they love. But as success mounts they are faced with decisions that begin to fray the fragile fabric of their love affair, and the dreams they worked so hard to maintain in each other threaten to rip them apart. Directed by Damien Chazelle, this is a musical for people who don’t like musicals!

Christine ‘Lady Bird’ McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) is exactly like her loving, opinionated and strong-willed mum (Laurie Metcalf), a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after her husband loses his job. A coming-of-age film, directed by Greta Gerwig, that will make you want to hug your mum and hold her tight.

14. Bad Moms (2016)

Don’t judge us – this is so bad, it’s good! Guaranteed to make you laugh out loud, Bad Moms, directed by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, will make you feel good about your parenting techniques. Mum-of-two Amy (Mila Kunis) is overworked and exhausted. Ready to snap, she meets two other stressed mums (Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn) and, together, they go wild!

13. Bad Neighbours (2014)

Directed by Nicholas Stoller, this feel-good flick has a few things going for it – a shirtless Zac Efron, comedy genius Seth Rogen and Aussie sweetheart Rose Byrne. Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly (Rose Byrne) have just welcomed a newborn daughter when the Delta Psi Beta fraternity moves in next door. Trying to be cool, Mac and Kelly  try their best to get along with frat president Teddy (Zac Efron), before it becomes war.

12. Pitch Perfect (2012)

At university, Beca (Anna Kendrick) is thrust among mean gals, nice gals and just plain weird gals – the only thing they have in common is how well they sing together. Directed by Jason Moore, and starring our very own Rebel Wilson, this is an oldie but a goodie that will have you in stitches.

Donna (Meryl Streep), who runs a hotel in the Greek islands, is preparing for her daughter Sophie’s wedding. Meanwhile Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) secretly invites three men from her mother’s past (Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård), hoping to meet her real dad. Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, we dare you not to sing along to this musical extravaganza.

10. My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002)

Still unmarried at 30, Toula Portokalos falls in love with a tall, handsome teacher named Ian Miller (John Corbett). He’s perfect, except for one thing – he’s not Greek. Will their relationship survive her larger than life family and all their quirks? A classic directed by Joel Zwick.

9. Pride (2014)

An unlikely alliance is formed when London-based gay and lesbian activists lend their support to striking miners in 1984 Wales. They couldn’t come from more different worlds, but they shared a common foe – Margaret Thatcher, the police and the conservative press. Based on an incredible true story, and directed by Matthew Warchus, this is a hilarious yet historic gem.

We can all relate to 32-year-old Bridget (Renée Zellweger). The loveable hot mess wants to lose weight, drink less and find a man. So she tries to take control of her life by keeping a diary – and chaos ensues! Directed by Sharon Maguire, eye candy kindly provided by Colin Firth and Hugh Grant.

6. Magic Mike (2012)

Why not? You’ve had a tough day – you deserve a little shirtless Channing Tatum! By day, Mike (Channing Tatum) makes ends meet any way he can – as a handyman, detailing cars or designing furniture. By night, he’s a stripper! Directed by Steven Soderbergh, all we can say is a resounding thanks!

5. Clueless (1995)

Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is the most popular girl at her Beverly Hills high school. Playing matchmaker, she first coaxes two teachers into dating each other, before deciding to give the hopelessly uncool  Tai (Brittany Murphy) a makeover. But everything changes when Tai suddenly becomes more popular than she is! Directed by Amy Heckerling, it’s a fun flick that’ll have you walking down memory lane.

4. Elf (2003)

Even if it isn’t the silly season, Elf, directed by Jon Favreau, is a must watch! Accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler, Buddy (Will Ferrell) was raised by Santa’s elves. But he always felt like he didn’t fit in, so an adult Buddy travels to New York in search of his real father – Walter Hobbs (James Caan), a cynical businessman. After a DNA test proves Buddy is his child, Walter reluctantly attempts to start a relationship with his childlike son. The adorable Zooey Deschanel stars as Buddy’s love interest.

3. The Parent Trap (1998)

Twins Annie and Hallie (Lindsay Lohan) are strangers until fate brings them together. The girls’ divorced parents, Nick (Dennis Quaid) and Elizabeth (Natasha Richardson), are living on opposite sides of the Atlantic, each with one child. After meeting at camp, American Hallie and British-raised Annie engineer an identity swap, giving both the chance to spend time with the parent they’ve missed. If the scheme works, it might just make the family whole again. Directed by Nancy Meyers and starring a very sweet 12-year-old Lindsay Lohan. 

2. Legally Blonde (2001)

Sassy Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) has it all. But she wants nothing more than to be Mrs Warner Huntington III. There is one thing stopping him (Matthew Davis) from proposing: She is too blonde. Proving him wrong, Elle stops at nothing to get into Harvard, in a bid to win him back. Directed by Robert Luketic, it’s a reminder that girls really can do anything!
