The Metropolitan Police have shut down claims that their investigation is losing steam after copping criticism for lack of movement searching for Madeleine McCann.
The officers investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have hit back after Daily Mail claimed Operation Grange had ‘stalled’. Officers investigating the case had only made two trips to Portugal, where Maddie was last seen, in the past year despite getting over $140,000 to follow up a lead until September.

A spokesperson told The Sun: ‘We should not have to explain or justify how many times we are going to Portugal.
‘The investigation continues with focus and determination. It is not winding down, it is not grinding to a halt. It is on-going.’
New buzz around Maddie’s case came several months ago when Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said ‘significant investigative avenues’ are being pursued.
