A Melbourne-based mechanic who worked on the car of Karen Ristevski has made claims which could contradict statements made by her husband.
The 47-year-old‘s body was located in February, 2017 in bushland in Mt Macedon, after vanishing on June 29 2016.
After her Mercedes-Benz SLK 200 was spotted driving in Mt Macedon when she disappeared, Borce, her husband – who has consistently denied being involved in his wife’s death – claimed that he took the car out for a drive to test an alleged faulty fuel gauge.
However, now a mechanic who worked on the murdered woman’s car has claimed that despite the evidence given by her husband, he had never noticed a faulty fuel gauge in all his time servicing her car.
According to 7 News, the mechanic has reportedly told detectives that neither Mr Ristevski nor his wife had ever asked him “to fix any faulty fuel gauge”.
“I told the detective, in the last three years I haven’t touched that car and he’s (Borce) never asked me to fix any faulty fuel gauge,” the mechanic told the Herald Sun.
“In all my time working on Mercedes-Benz cars, I’ve never come across this type of problem before,” he said.
Ristevski refused to comment on the matter when pressed by journalists.
