The Duke and Duchess of Sussex paid a sweet tribute to the late Diana in their Mother’s Day Instagram post.
Sharing a photo of Meghan cradling baby Archie’s feet to celebrate her first Mother’s Day, the flowers in the background have a beautiful meaning.
‘Paying tribute to all mothers today – past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered. We honor and celebrate each and every one of you,’ the post read.
‘This is the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex.’
The photo was taken at Frogmore Cottage home in Windsor, with forget-me-nots seen in the background.
Forget-me-nots were Diana’s favourite flower.
Not only that, the post recognised mothers who were ‘lost but forever remembered’ – which of course is a nod to the Princess of Wales, who died in a tragic car crash in 1997.
The Duke and Duchess also shared a poem written by Nayyriah Waheed in their Mother’s Day Instagram post.
‘My mother was my first country; the first place i ever lived,’ it said.
Meghan also paid a poignant tribute to the mother-in-law she never met with her bridal bouquet at her wedding to Prince Harry.
The floral arrangement included forget-me-nots, as well as stems hand picked by Harry from their private garden at Kensington Palace.
