Students of Irrawang High School are in mourning today after the tragic death of their 15-year-old classmate yesterday.
The year 10 student had been riding his bicycle to school when he was hit by a bus with students on board.
NSW Ambulance revealed that the teenager was trapped under the bus in Raymond Terrace, just outside of Newcastle.
The driver of the bus was taken to hospital where he underwent urine and blood tests. It is understood that the police are investigating the matter further to determine how the events unfolded.
The NSW Department of Education has issued a statement revealing that the school has offered it’s sincere condolences to the family and many friends of the students.
‘Counselling support is in place at the school and other local schools for students and staff who may have witnessed or been affected by the incident,’ it read.
