A woman who texted her dad every day for four years after he died has received a reply from a man who says the messages kept him going after his daughter died.
Each night, Chastity Patterson, 23, would send a message about her day to her father’s old phone number. Then, on the day before the fourth anniversary of his death, she got an incredible reply.
In a text message to her dad, Chastity wrote: It’s been 4 years since I lost you and not a day goes by that I don’t miss you.
Having never had a reply she didn’t expect a response but then to her surprise she received a message back.
I am not your father but I have been getting all of your messages. My name is Brad and I lost my daughter in a car wreck August 2014 and your messages have kept me alive.
Sharing screen grabs of the conversation to Facebook, Chastity wrote: I text my dad everyday to let him know how my day goes, for the past Four years! Today was my sign that everything is okay and I can let him rest!
It’s thought that Brad was allocated Chastity’s dad’s old phone number after he passed away. Then, by an incredible coincidence, he was going through similar grief to Chastity when he began receiving her messages.
After Chastity shared the messages on Facebook it was shared almost 300,000 times and gained 19,000 comments.
I’m so happy he responded and you both can find peace in those messages. A daughter who lost a father and a father who lost a daughter, wrote one person.
