A baby has reportedly died after his grandfather gave him alcohol.
The granddad gave the one-month-old boy booze at a family party, after being dared to do so.
According to Sin Chew Daily, the occasion took place at the child’s family home in Beijing, China, on July 12.
Friends and family had gathered for the child’s full month celebration, which is traditionally carried out to bless and celebrate a newborn.
It’s reported that the unnamed grandfather was holding the infant at the party and proposed a toast, when another relative allegedly joked the grandfather couldn’t take a sip if the baby didn’t drink first.
The man ended up caving to taunts, giving the child a sip of an alcoholic drink.
By the time the baby’s mother had discovered what happened, she took the child back, but he was already struggling to breathe.
The infant was rushed to a nearby hospital where he reportedly died.
