When temperatures soar staying comfortable can be a monumental task.
Use these cool and clever hacks to help beat the heat and chill out when the mercury starts to climb.
Point fans OUT an open window
Fans draw air in from the rear and push it forward. So to cool a room directing the fan out will take that hot air and put it back outside where it belongs!
Repurpose your hot water bottle
Fill a ‘hot’ water bottle with water and pop it in the freezer for about 20 minutes before bedtime for an ice—pack to cuddle.
Ice your pulse points
Applying an ice packs to wrists, neck, elbows groin, ankles, and behind the knees will provide instant soothing. Places where veins are close to the surface of the skin are efficient spots for a quick chill.
Hydration
When it’s hot simply standing can cause a person to break out into a sweat. Make sure to replace that water with regular sips of cool water.
Dampen a sheet and hang it in front of a window
Any breeze will immediately chill a few degrees and help cool an entire room!
Don’t cook
Turning on an oven or a cook top will immediately make the inside of a house hotter. Opt instead for cool foods like salads, or pick up some takeaway.
Unplug electronics
Anything that’s not needed should be unplugged. Phone and laptop chargers, TVs on stand-by – they all create heat while sitting then. Unplug them to keep the temperature down.
