A baby boy slid under the waters of a bath while his babysitter – who had fallen asleep – was holding him, it’s been claimed.
The Metro reported how Ashley Zamora, 39, has been accused of neglecting the three-month-old infant while looking after him at home in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on March 6.
In the early hours of the morning, officials at Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office were called out to the scene and found the baby breathing, but unresponsive.
Zamora then later told deputies what she claimed has happened.
A spokesperson said, ‘During questioning Zamora advised she took prescription medication before taking a bath.
‘Due to the totality of the circumstances surrounding the incident, detectives believe Zamora was under the influence; therefore, she was transported to a local hospital to have her blood drawn for a toxicology report.’
After the incident, the baby was airlifted to hospital where his current condition has been described as stable.
Zamora was charged with cruelty to a juvenile and booked in Calcasieu Correctional Centre.
