A court has heard how a British woman encouraged her boyfriend to shoot their neighbour’s crying toddler to ‘shut him up’.
Harry Studley, then 18 months, was with his mother, Amy Allen, and older brother Riley visiting the unit Jordan Walters and his girlfriend, Emma Horseman, shared in the same apartment block in July last year, according to BBC News.
But Harry was left fighting for life after Walters shot him in the head with a rifle.
It’s alleged that Harry was crying when Horseman told Walters – who was cleaning his gun – to ‘shoot Harry just to frighten him, shut him up, shoot it at Harry’.
The jury was told Walters thought the weapon was empty so ‘aimed the gun at Harry and fired it right into Harry’s head’.
Walters, 24, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm last year, but Horseman denied the same charge by aiding and abetting.
‘He aimed the gun at Harry. I looked round and said ‘No’ and I heard the gun,’ Amy told the court.
While Harry was rushed to hospital and underwent emergency surgery that saved his life, he now suffers from seizures.
The trial continues.
