The body of 25-year-old Courtney Herron was discovered in Royal Park in Parkville early Saturday morning by walkers.

Her battered body was allegedly found concealed in bushes.

Victoria Police have confirmed a 27-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested and charged with one count of murder.

He is expected to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Police say Ms Herron had been struggling with drug addiction and had been couch surfing and sleeping rough prior to her tragic death.

‘This was a particularly, particularly horrendous attack,’ Homicide squad Detective Inspector Andrew Stamper said, according to Nine News.

The park where Ms Herron was found is only a short distance from where the body of comedian Eurydice Dixon was found on June 12 last year.
