A woman who’s been dubbed the world’s oldest mother after giving birth to twins at age 74 earlier this month is in intensive care.
Following the birth of their daughters, the mother suffered from a stroke and the following day the father had a heart attack. The pair both remain in hospital.
Married for 57 years, the couple were desperate to start a family together after decades of failing to fall pregnant.
Then last September they became ‘the happiest couple on earth,’ after their first round of IVF proved successful.
After welcoming their girls earlier this month, their father said ‘Due to the grace of God and doctors I am the proud father of two baby girls.’
The news of their arrival sparked intense about around the world with many people claiming that the couple were far too old to be having children.
Similarly, people took a stance against the doctor who carried out the procedure labelling him ‘irresponsible.’
Sadly, the day after the baby girls were delivered, their father collapsed and was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit where he still remains.
It is understood the girls are now in the care of relatives but are in good health.
