A woman who fell pregnant to her husband six months after his death has welcomed their baby girl.
Kristen Tripson lost her husband Sam to lymphoma but recently welcomed daughter Lillian after using embryos stored before his death.
Sam was first diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma when Kristen was pregnant with their first child, Jack, in 2011. They later had a daughter, Alice Ann.
In May, six months after Sam’s death, Kristen announced she was expecting. ‘Well, I’m pregnant, ‘ she wrote. ‘And, yes, it’s Sam’s.’
She said as Sam was dying they talked about the remaining embryos and she had the final two transferred earlier this year. A few weeks later she found out she was carrying one baby.
As she said: ‘The way I see it, I get one and Sam gets one.’
Kristen said she was enjoying her time with Lillian since this was the first time she wasn’t going to chemo appointments with her husband and a new baby.
