Dying backpacker killer Ivan Milat has been seen for the first time in ten years.
The 74-year-old is dying of oesophagus cancer, his face gaunt and sallow and long hair white with age.
A frail Milat was wheeled into Long Bay prison on Tuesday morning after receiving treatment for his terminal cancer at Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick.
He was transferred to the hospital on May 13.
Shackled by his hands and ankles, Milat is almost unrecognisable from the fit and healthy man who brutally murdered seven backpackers in the 1990s.
Doctors have reportedly told the convicted serial killer that he likely has only weeks to live.
NSW Police have confirmed they plan to question the dying killer, hoping to extract a deathbed confession.
It has been long believed Milat is responsible for far more deaths than the seven backpackers he murdered and buried in the Belanglo State Forest.
Police also hope Milat will confess to having an accomplice who helped him brutally slay the young travellers.
Milat was convicted in 1996 for the murders of Deborah Everist, James Gibson, Simone Schmidl, Gabor Neugebauer, Anja Habschied, Caroline Clarke and Joanne Walters.
He has spent the last 23 years in Goulbourn’s Supermax Prison.
