Mum asks for advice after putting breastmilk in bake sale brownies

‘One of the other moms found out…’

Jaws have hit the floor at a Facebook post that has gone viral written by a woman who says she baked brownies for her child’s school cake stall with breastmilk.

The post was screenshotted and shared by the page ‘Sanctimommy’, and goes on to say that another parent found out about the breastmilk and ‘is blowing it all out of proportion.’

Claiming that it was in fact ‘not even that much’ breastmilk the mum argues that ‘some of those kids could use the nutrition let’s be honest’.

People reading the post weren’t sure which part of it to tackle first – the idea that she was feeding people food containing her own bodily fluids or that she seemed to have no idea that this might rub people the wrong way.

The person behind Sanctimommy commented that ‘I shall forever remember today as the day I stopped supporting bake sales.’

Of course people immediately took to the comments with their own tongue-in-cheek suggestions:

‘Once she uses her own eggs she can brag about nutrition. Amateur,’ one wrote.

Another added: ‘Oh my gosh, YES, the only way I can get my kids to drink breast milk is by slipping it into baked goods, breakfast cereal, etc. They’re in their 20s, so they’re not as receptive to latching on anymore, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to deprive them of Mommy’s precious nutrients.’

‘My littles are 198 and 160 months respectively and I still make all their baked goods with breast milk,’ said another, referring to her 16-year-old and 13-year-old while poking fun at mums who insist on using months for their children’s ages way past toddlerhood.

This commenter made a very good point that untested breastmilk can be straight-up dangerous:

‘Honestly this is actually a damn near criminal offense! Breast milk, like blood or semen, can carry diseases, which is why legit donation services screen the milk before passing it along to moms and their babies.’

Finally this very important point was made:

‘I’ve never seen a brownie recipe that used milk.’

Wait a minute….
