A 29-year-old man has been charged after a mother was found dead inside her New South Wales home, Nine News reports.
According to Nine, the man was arrested yesterday afternoon at Maitland, more than 230 kilometres north of where Kristie Powell’s body was found at her Bellambi home at 1am on Friday.
The man was charged with one count of murder.
Detective Inspector Brad Ainsworth said, “We know he was an acquaintance of the deceased and we think he can maybe shed some light on where we’re going.”
Ms Powell’s five-month-old son was inside the home, north of Wollongong, when a friend found her body. He is now understood to be in the care of his grandparents.
The man was refused bail and is expected to appear in court later today.
