A call has gone out online for the author behind a heartbreaking note tied to a balloon found in a field in Scotland.
In child’s handwriting the note starts with ‘Hi dad’ and then immediately breaks your heart when it says ‘I know you [are] up in heaven but are you safe?’.
We’ll wait for you to fetch the tissues.

Got them? Good.
The letter goes on to describe how the child is in foster care right now because ‘mum is sick’.
It then describes what the child wants for Christmas and if you weren’t already bawling you will probably start now:

The letter was posted to the Twitter page of the Bournemouth Echo and has since been retweeted over 7,000 times in the search for the child.
