Connie Johnson has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she was told she could no longer continue cancer treatment.
In a heartbreaking interview with The Project’s Carrie Bickmore, the sister of actor and Gold Logie winner Samuel Johnson revealed that she was expecting her medical team to offer different options, but the answer was very different.
“They told me I couldn’t continue on the chemo because my organs were struggling too much,” she revealed, with tears in her eyes.
When asked what she was told to expect, Johnson said.
“Once the chemo stops, the cancer will progress and whether that starts immediately or whether it’s a slow build I will go into liver failure and it’s very peaceful.”
Bickmore asked: “Are you scared?”
“Terrified,” Johnson responded.
Connie will soon be forced to say goodbye to her two young sons.
“I have this thought that comes into my head all the time, where one day I’ll be holding the children’s hands, then I’ll be gone,” she said. “My pain will be over, and theirs will just be beginning.”
Today on May 10, Connie and Samuel’s charity Love Your Sister will aim to break the world record during her “last hurrah”. The charity will aim to form the biggest heart formed in the world made of 5 cent pieces and raise millions for cancer research. To find out more or donate, click here.
