NSW police have confirmed that a 14-year-old boy has been charged after an elderly woman was indecently assaulted in her home yesterday (19/06/19).
At around 5.10am, an 82-year-old woman was in her home on Petra Avenue, Tamworth, when two young males entered the home.
They stole an amount of cash from the woman, as well as a tablet device. It’s alleged the woman was then indecently assaulted by the males.
The woman sounded an alarm and the youths fled. Officers from Oxley Police District attended and commenced an investigation.
Following inquiries, about 4.45pm yesterday, police attended a home on Robert Street, Tamworth, and arrested a 14-year-old boy.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with aggravated break, enter and steal, aggravated break and enter – commit serious indictable offence, aggravated indecent assault and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court today (Thursday 20 June 2019).
Inquiries continue to locate the other male. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
