A mother endured her worst nightmare when an unknown man grabbed her 15-month-old son from play equipment before trying to leave the Sydney playground with him.
7 News report that the child was grabbed from right in front of the mother in a busy mall. The mother then took off after them, screaming for her baby boy back.
‘The male handed the child back to the mother and did not say anything to her,’ said Liverpool Police Detective Inspector Dean Johnstone.
Police searched the footage from surveillance cameras above the playground, but the cameras were not working.
The child’s mother, who did not want to be named, told 7 News that she will never let her boy play at the Macquarie Street Mall playground again.
Police describe the suspect as middle aged, of Mediterranean appearance, clean shaven, with black hair, and a wool jacket.
