A mother who accidentally hit another car in her local shopping centre has become an unlikely internet hero.
The woman – known as Ingrid – ran into the back of Brooke Doughty’s car while it was parked at Kawana Shoppingworld on the Sunshine Coast, leaving it with minor damage.
Instead of driving away, Ingrid dashed back into the shops to retrieve a pen and paper and left an apologetic note with her details.
But her kindhearted actions didn’t stop there.
A few days after the incident, the lady came by Ms Doughty’s house with a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates and $200 cash to pay for the damages.
In a post on Facebook, Ms Doughty said she was blown away by Ingrid’s touching gesture.
She was even more astounded to learn the difficult situation the woman was silently going through at home.
‘Her husband has full blown motor neurone disease. She has quit her job to nurse him, whilst also caring for their 10 year old son,’ Ms Doughty wrote.
‘She made me feel so grateful. What an amazing person. What an amazing woman. She gets good karma forever more.’
Luckily, the damage to the car was minimal and after receiving ‘ridiculous’ repairer quotes, Ms Doughty’s husband decided the majority of it could be buffed out.
Hundreds of people commented on the post, praising Ingrid for being so kind and honest.
‘People like her restore our faith in humans,’ one person said.
‘What a beautiful soul she is,’ another wrote.
