When you need to grate some cheese, do you stand the grater upright over a chopping board or plate and pull the cheese along the blades in a downward motion?
Then do you pull the grater up and have to sweep the cheese into a bowl using your hand or a knife?
Turns out that’s the completely wrong to grate cheese!
As this video shows, the easiest way to get your cheese shredded is to lay the grater down horizontally and push the cheese along in a side-to-side motion. That way the cheese collects handily in the grater and you can just slip it into a bowl in one downward motion.
