A 23-year-old mother who vanished from her home while her young children were still inside has been found dead.
TerriLynn St. John was reported missing on Tuesday after her parents arrived at her house to find her door ajar and her three-year-old and one-year-old alone inside.
After a desperate two-day search, TerryLynn was found dead in a small patch of woods less than two kilometres from her Middlesex County home.
An acquaintance of the mum of two is now in custody in relation to her death.
Middlesex Sheriff’s Major Michael Sampson said a man named Alvin B. Keyser, 23, led investigators to the body, which was about 20 feet away from a rural road.
Sheriff Sampson wouldn’t detail the extent of the relationship between Keyser and St. John, but WTVR reported Keyser knew both St. John and the father of her two children.
‘Detectives have now switched their gears in this case from a missing persons report of suspicious nature to a homicide,’ Sampson said.
Police will continue to investigate Keyser while St. John’s body is sent to the medical examiner’s office.
‘The closure on this is not good closure, but it is closure,’ said Middlesex County Sheriff David Bushey.
