When Krishna Prasad Bhattarai was 12 he was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis – a genetic condition where benign tumours grown along the nervous system.

The condition had caused a massive tumour to grow on the side of his face, and after 47 years it had grown to weigh as much as a toddler.

Krishna managed as best he could, carrying the massive weight in a bag tethered to his head.

Finally this year, surgeons were able to do something for him.

In a seven-hour surgery involving 11 surgeons, over 11kg of tissue was removed from Krishna’s neck.

He says now the tumour is gone he feels ‘reborn’, ‘relaxed’, and ‘happy’.

‘My life has drastically changed after the surgery.

‘I am extremely thankful to the doctor for helping me. He has given me a completely new life.’
