A couple in their 60s who were in the process of selling their home because they couldn’t make mortgage payments have become millionaires in an instant after spending their last dollars on a Lotto ticket.
Things had gotten grim for this pair of Perth pensioners. Struggling from pension to pension, the couple were preparing to give up their home.
It was then that the woman said she had a dream that they had won Lotto, and asked her hubby if they could buy a ticket.
‘I was surprised my hubby let me use our last bit of change to buy the ticket but it was a double win day,’ she told The West Australian.
When the wife discovered they had won million she called her husband, but only told him they had won a few thousand.
‘I wanted to tell my husband straight away but I was scared the shock of it would give him a heart attack,’ she laughs.
When he found out her says he told his wife ‘not to be stupid’ but when he saw the numbers for himself he was overwhelmed.
‘I immediately realised we could afford our next mortgage payment.’
The winning ticket was sold by St Clair Pharmacy and News in Port Kennedy. Owner, George Salib, says that the winnings couldn’t have gone to a more deserving couple.
