Lucy Little had spent all morning in hospital with her 11-year-old son Daniel who has a rare neurodegenerative disorder called Cockayne Syndrome. She popped into Big W on the way home and while in the shop Daniel spotted a doll of his favourite Wiggle, Emma.

‘My Daniel squealed with delight when he saw an “Emma Wiggles doll”,’ Lucy wrote on North Shore Mum’s Facebook page.

But she said he’d have to ask Santa for the doll as it was “quite pricey”.

As she was leaving the store the family got a wonderful surprise when a woman approached them and handed Daniel the Emma doll.

Says Lucy: ‘She wanted him to have it because she saw how much he loved it.’ The woman handed Daniel the doll and told him to have a Merry Christmas.

Lucy continued: ‘She will never know how much a generous gesture made a cr*ppy day into a lovely one.’
