Canadian Kayla Butcher, admits she had no self-control when it came to junk food. Along with bouts of depression in her teens, and a difficult home life, she found it hard to eat well and exercise.

Gradually her weight climbed, and hit a peak when she moved out of home for college. Eventually dropping out, Kayla was now morbidly obese and had to make a change.

After cutting out fast food, excercising, and cooking her own meals, she showed doctors she was willing to make the necessary lifestyle changes to keep the weight off. They then performed a gastric bypass, which saw her drop an incredible 85 kg in just a year.

But while the weightloss has changed her life, Kayla has been left with an ‘apron’ of loose skin.

I am more self-conscious now at 189 pounds naked than I ever was at 376 pounds,’ she told Cosmopolitan.com. ‘I look and feel like a balloon that has lost all of its air a week after a party.’

While her gastric bypass is covered by Canadian medicare, skin-removal is not unless it to treat a medical condition like a rash or infection.

As far as insurance is concerned, Kayla’s loose skin is a cosmetic problem she has to pay to fix herself.

And she’s on her way! Starting a GoFundMe to finance her surgeries, Kayla is hopeful to finally win her weight loss battle.

Meanwhile, Kayla says she is staying positive.
