A bar famous for its stomach-churning signature drink has reported its prized possession – a human toe – as stolen.
The Downtown Hotel in Dawson City, Yukon, is famous for their Sourtoe Cocktail – which involves a shot of whisky served with a mummified human toe bobbing in the glass.
To properly do the drink, the toe must touch the drinker’s lips and a $2,500 fine is imposed for stealing or drinking it. Shockingly, over the weekend, the toe was nicked by some sticky fingers!
In a press release the bar’s ‘Toe Captain’, Terry Lee, says they will fine and charge the thief “unless the Toe is returned safe.”
The main suspect is a man who ordered the Sourtoe Cocktail one evening, before leaving the bar. in a fatal mistake the man left his Sourtoe Cocktail certificate, awarded by the hotel to people who finish the drink, which bore his name.
The hotel have given the name to the Police who are investigating.
“Stunts like this adversely affect the whole community, not just the Downtown Hotel,’ Lee explains in the press release.
‘We fortunately have a couple of back up toes, but we really need this one back.’
